Products

Poster paper
This paper is wood-free with wet strength and has an opaque base coat. The reverse side is yellow/blue and the images underneath (e.g. on advertising pillars) do not shine through.

Durability of stickers
The print and the material are durable depending on the substrate and the weather. Limited weather resistance means that the stickers can be used in the open for a limited period.

Bindings
Saddle stitching is used for magazine binding.

Bundling (magazines/flyers)
Leaflets and Magazines of 135g and 170g in bundles of 50/100 items can be chosen.

Print with colours/special colours
Note papers are printed with special HKS colours.

Colour deviations
We use state-of-the-art printing machines. In spite of that, colour variation may arise. The printed output depends on the characteristics of the paper used like the degree of whiteness, the grain direction, whether gloss or matt and the climatic conditions at the printing site. Our forms and machines work on optimum capacity; as such no complaints would be entertained for colour deviations within the tolerance limit.

Coloured paper (printing)
We do not print on coloured paper. However, should you want a coloured background; it is possible to create this as a colour in the file.

Indoor paper
This is a type of poster paper which is printed using an oil-based ink. The print has limited resistance to UV light and the weather.

The grain of the paper
For technical production reasons, we cannot take into consideration the grain of the paper when placing your order. We therefore, cannot rule out the possibility of a slight opening when the sheets are folded. Opening can be prevented by scoring papers weighing more than 170g/qm.

Scoring and grooving
This is the impression of a linear indentation on paper, cardboard or board using scoring lines or scoring rollers. The material is just displaced and compressed. Scoring prevents the material splitting or breaking when folded. Please be aware: the grain of the paper cannot be taken into consideration when producing folded items.

Maximum paper formats
We offer posters at DIN A 0 in paper weights of 100g, 135g (gloss) ;115g on Poster paper; plots on DIN A 0 in paper weights of 115g (Poster paper) and 175g (Outdoor).

Plot
These are recommended for small numbers of items up to. 25 pieces. We offer Plots on Poster– and Indoor paper.

Maximum number of pages (magazines)
Saddle stitched Magazines are printed with a maximum number of 148 pages (including cover).

Punching
We print round/oval flyers and stickers which are then punched.

Foil coating
We offer single sided foil lamination for postcards and double sided foil lamination for visiting cards.

Parallel fold/Special parallel fold
A parallel fold is when the product is folded once in the middle. It is then processed again in a Special parallel fold. We can provide a z-fold of up to 8 pages. With jobs over 10 pages, leaflets are processed using a Special parallel fold.

Data

Bleed
Please create a 1 mm Bleed (3mm in the case of posters) on each side in addition to the trimmed size. Important information (e-mail addresses, telephone number etc.) should be placed with a spacing of at least 3mm from the edge; 5mm in the case of posters and 7mm in the case of magazines. In the case of punched flyers, please allow 1.5 mm bleed. Match your data format with our standard data format.

Data labeling

JPEG is a file format which stores compressed pixel images. This format contracts image files so that they can be used on the Internet for fast exchange of data.

PDF - the Portable-Document-Format developed by Adobe Systems is another file format for printable documents. TIFF (Tagged-Image-File-Format) is a type of file format used for storing image data. TIFF along with Encapsulated Postscript is the most important format for the data transfer in the pre-press phase. EPS - an Encapsulated-Postscript file is a graphic file which matches the requirements needed for binding of a document.

Layers
Please delete all channels other than CMYK and compress all layers into a single layer before sending your data.

Colour mode
Please supply your print data in CMYK mode only. Colours created in RGB mode are not comparable with the colours created in CMYK mode. Colour saturation limit is 240% in total; otherwise this would result in defective print products. For example, 100% Black (K), 50% Cyan (C) and 50% Magenta (M) is sufficient for deep black.

Do not create special colours for any 4-colour products. This would lead to misinterpretation of the coloration scheme. Please use only process colours in your documents. If special colours are used, we would request you to replace these with the corresponding CMYK value.

Please be aware that a colour on your screen/printout will look slightly different to the finished print product. A computer screen uses the RGB –System while an offset printer uses the CMYK system to generate colours. Both colour systems are very refined but not every imaginable colour is shown exactly the same in both the systems. Therefore, we would like you to create your data in the CMYK mode for image processing programs in order to be suitable for printing.

Magazine data
For saddle stitched Magazines like a DIN A4 of 12 pages, we need to receive 6 DIN A3 files which means that the data must always be created as double pages: the Beispiel depicts the layout of a 12 page Magazine during ordering, trimmed size: 29.7 cm x 42.0 cm, data format: 29.9 cm x 42.2 cm. Important information, lettering and graphics should be placed at least 7mm inside the trimmed size.

Register marks
In multi-coloured printing, the register marks guarantee that individual colours are overprinted accurately.

PDF
PDF files (to PDF/X1-a 2001 ):

  • A PDF file must be compatible with the ISO PDF/X1-a 2001 standard.
  • Always save it as a PDF-Version 1.3 which is compatible with Acrobat 4.0.
  • Embed all images and colour profiles.
  • Only “printable“elements are allowed which means no comments, form fields, buttons or videos.
  • PDF files with OPI links cannot be printed.
  • Permitted colour spaces are CMYK and grey levels. The ICC-based colour spaces like CalRGB, CalGray and Lab may only be used in association with an ICC-Profil.
  • Avoid N-Channel (colour separation).
  • Transfer functions (gradation curves) are not possible.
  • Please do not supply Photoshop-PDFs. Always create a JPG/JPEG or TIF/TIFF file using Photoshop.
  • The data in your generated PDF file must be created centrally otherwise there may be a misalignment in the document.
  • Do not secure PDF files with passwords.

Read me files
Please do not send print data files with “Read-me“status.

Cut marks
These are fine lines that show the book-binder where the sheets need cutting.

Lettering/Character sets
In the case of vector graphics, all texts must be converted into paths. All the text should use standard letters and character sets.

Creating black

Raster/dpi
